In Lansingburgh, NY, at approximately 1 am on March 26th, two Troy police officers pulled over the vehicle shown in the video. Uneventful video, until they want to ID me for filming them. I can’t figure out why cops are so afraid of video cameras? Troy PD is so concerned with me and my camera, I am on their “watch board” according to the female officer in the video. I think Troy PD has something to hide.
The male officer in this video cracks me up as he attempts to get Adam’s name from him. Starting with, “Just checking to see what your doing.” Then moving on to, “Do you live around here?” And finally getting more direct when he asks, “So, what’s your name?” It becomes even more comical as the officer tries to justify his actions, saying he’s not worried about Adam taking pictures but more concerned that he “came out of nowhere.”
It’s around this time that the officer, probably after getting ‘the look’ from his colleague, realizes that harassing Adam for ID while he’s holding a camera is probably not in his best interest. This is an excellent CopBlock, where knowledge coupled with a camera kept Adam safe and the cops in line. Sure, some might say that the camera is what brought Adam the police attention in the first place, but I’d say that the cops enforcing bad laws, having a double standard, and aggressive nature are why people film the police in the first place.
