Cops Set Up Undercover Sting to Catch Bar Serving…. BEER!

You read that title correctly and, in one of the most insanely ridiculous stories I’ve ever blogged about, it seems the police officers in Maple Grove Minnesota set up an undercover sting operation to catch a bar selling….. BEER! Watch the video below to get the nasty details of this crime kingpin selling delicious beer to people who like delicious beer.

7494295_G7494295_GSo the brewery that owns “Spotted Cow” – a beer I enjoyed a lot while I lived in Wisconsin – has decided not to get licensed in any other state besides Wisconsin. Though this is the decision of the owners, it’s the government that’s to blame. Why does everything need to be licensed? What if that additional cost doesn’t make such a venture profitable for the business? What if the additional income would mean more taxes or multiple state sales make accounting more burdensome? All these are probably factors into the breweries decision to keep business in Wisconsin.

Now the unintended consequences start to show. Due to the previously mentioned possible reasons for “Spotted Cow” to not be sold outside of Wisconsin you now have law enforcement in other states allocating their time conducting expensive (as everything is expensive with government) undercover stings, where cops were sent into a bar over several cases to purchase beer. Is this police work or a dream job? Furthermore, after getting smashed on taxpayer money, these scumbags then go after the bar owner, seizing their property (a few kegs of beer, which I’m sure will be safe in the evidence locker) and charging the business owner with a felony.

The woman, who I assumed was a bartender, in the video mentions that “New Glarus” – the brewery – should simply bring their business to Minnesota. Or maybe the Minnesota government should stop taxing, enforcing and harassing businesses to the point where no one wants to have a business there. How about we just end government regulation of businesses all together, or end the government entirely. I know it’s a radical notion for most of you to hear but I think it’s pretty radical to be writing a blog post from the “freest country in the world” describing how police took beer from a business owner, simply because they didn’t CopblockBanner 3
