Sacramento Police Assault Interrupts “Family Day” at California Drive In

NAAPBNAAPBThis shocking video that was posted to Facebook shows two males being accosted by police. The video is relatively short, but four or more officers, and a helicopter are involved. The person who shot the video repeatedly shouts at the police, and claims “they did nothing wrong”.

The person’s cousin corroborates this claim later in the video.

In what appears to be a completely random and  unprovoked act of violence. One of the officers whose identity is unknown at this time, grabs one of the males around the neck, and throws him to the ground. Three other officers jump on him, while another officer manages the other suspect.

I reached out to Christina Arechiga not only for her opinion, but also about what the community is doing to respond to instances of police misconduct.  Christina is not only the West Coast  regional coordinator for the National Association Against Police Brutality, she is also a Sacramento resident.

She had this to say:

“Since Michael Brown was murdered, there have been concentrated efforts by Sacramentans and surrounding communities to call upon our lawmakers to help us establish a civilian oversight commission. In an incident like this, the people don’t have anyone to count on for help. I don’t need to know what happened prior to this video to see a man grabbed by what appeared to be his throat and slammed to the ground. Recently our youth spoke to city leaders about their reality in dealing with police. Lack of trust is the main problem. This is the exact behavior the people are tired of seeing.”
